Marielle's Memory

So it finally happened: two weeks ago I got roped into singing in church. The only wrinkle is that Mik was also singing in the same double quartet, so we needed someone to watch Marielle. My job was to find that someone. I decided to use the parents of one of Marielle's friends, thinking she would be distracted by the opportunity to play with her friend during sacrament meeting. Lo and behold, when I dropped her off with Rachel and her mama, Marielle clung to me like I was handing her over to the grim reaper.

When I finally pried her off of me, she cried & cried & "Rachel's mama" had to take her out of the chapel.

The title of this blog stems from what happened a week later. Mik & Marielle were standing in the hallway when Rachel and her mama walked by and Marielle said "I crying for Rachel's mama." At first Mik interpreted it was "Oh, you're crying for Lora? You want to see her?" but then Marielle added, "My prents singing" and we knew she was remembering what had happened last week.

I wonder if this will be her broken-leg-while-jumping-on-a-volleyball equivalent: her most traumatic 2 year-old experience that she'll remember (albeit vaguely) for the rest of her life?

wow, that's amazing that she told ya'll about that memory. She may be one of those people that remembers 2 year old memories when they're adults.

How are you feeling these days?

I keep forgetting to tell you about last Sunday in Nursery. We were talking about how Jesus loves each of us and how we love Him and our families. Marielle said she loved Jesus, but was quick to add that she does not like Santa.
