I've heard that lefties are more creative and this definitely holds true for Ryan. It is so fun to be married to him because he plans awesome birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries. He also plans very fun date nights, although they come around a lot less often then they used too. But this week my parents came into town (pics and details to come later) and he had time to pre-mediate and execute a very fun date night. We left home around 6:30 and headed to Barnes and Noble. First off we gathered large coffee table type books and then sat down to look through them. Ryan told me to mark my favorite pictures which I found a little hard to do since I knew he something up his sleeve. After looking at a few of his selections I had a better idea and started choosing pictures. After about a half an hour the photos were selected and the plan was revealed. We were to re-create the scenes in the pictures to the best of our abilities. There were no rules or time limits, we just had to get creative with locations and props. We took stealthy pictures of the photos with our camera and then headed out to stage our photo shoots. We had a great time sneaking around stores, hiding from clerks, turning ordinary things like barbecue tongs into machetes, and basically acting like teenagers. Here are the results of the night I loaded the picture from the book and then our creation. The last one is my favorite...you'll see why!

Hilarious! You're right, he's very creative. I hear you about the date nights not happening so often as they use to. I was having that conversation with Erika the other day. We're actually going to "get away" on Friday and go out. It's been forever.
The summer hasn't really turned out like I imagined. I like your playgroup blog but haven't been able to make it to anything. Stink! We've missed ya'll and I'm sure Marielle has grown even more by now. Hopefully Brayden has grown too but I'm not so sure. He's such a shortie! :)We really need to get together one of these times...that's for sure.
What a fun post. I don't think that I would ever have the guts to do some of the stunts, I hope that I would, but we will have to see. Hey can you add me to your playgroup blog list. I would love to get together with you too. Keep posting. It is fun to hear what you have been up to.
Ryan, I love keeping up on your family through your blog. I often read your book reviews. There's probably some place to respond on the site that you use to write the reviews, but your 20th century aunt hasn't figured that out yet. Flowers for Algernon was originally a short story. (It didn't become novel length until someone made a movie and then made a novel to go with the movie.) The short story is a stunner. I like it much better than the novel. Look it up sometime. Also, you might enjoy Alabama Moon by Watt Key, and The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie (mild warning for teenage boy thoughts detailed). Love to "the girls".
HAHAHA~ Awesome!
Ryan...you are still so cute and I love ya!! You always said only left handed people are in their right minds. You are VERY creative and fun. So fun to see you and your cute family.
Soooo, Pre-mediate....
Mediate being arbitrate, intercede, act as a go between, reconcile.
Did Ryan have to reconcile something between you and your parents previous to the date??....Or did he have to pre-mediate to get your parents to agree to visit in the first place?.... :)
